There are actually 2 articles here. The first article is from late last year on the discovery of the layer. The second article is on linking the layer to glaucoma.

Thanks for the bug note, seems it was grabbing the IP of the balancer and not the X-Fowarded-For header.

Kuro5hin has been around for a while now. Their website is based on their own Scoop engine.

Soylent News is a new Slashcode based site. They have not launched yet, but they have an active wiki, forum, and IRC channel.
